MISSION STATEMENT
Parishioners of St. Ignatius will live out their baptismal commitment to Christ by sharing their faith through the Adult and Family Mission endeavor in service and witness to the poor in a cross-cultural environment.
MISSION ACTIVITIES
The activities involve work in and around homes of the elderly, infirmed and poor who live in the colonias of the Rio Grande Valley in Eagle Pass, Texas. Our faith is shared with the people by our actions and what we do.
The mission experience involves:
Attending two preparation meetings and a wrap-up gathering after the trip;
Working together as a team for the benefit of others;
Realizing that we are servants, not volunteers;
Sharing our faith by what we do and how we act.
The expenses are minimal and include:
Travel by driving or car pooling;
Personal breakfasts and lunches;
Cleaning, painting or small repair supplies;
Donation to Benedictine Mission House for housing and evening meals.
The family and adult trips are separate occasions and trips are planned for early spring (Lent) for the adults; early and late summer for the families (after school ends and before it starts); from Thursday morning through Sunday afternoon.
