Confirmation Readiness Requirements (must be met before immediate preparation begins):
Baptism: Please submit your Baptismal Certificate.
Attendance at Mass: Attend Mass every Saturday OR Sunday and on Holy Days of Obligation.
High School Faith Formation: Complete a minimum of 2 years of High School Faith Formation with a 75% attendance rate OR complete 1 year of Catholic High School (Freshmen to Junior Year).
Retreats: Attend 2 approved retreats AND the Confirmation retreat.
Saint Name Selection: Choose your Confirmation Saint Name.
Sponsor Selection: Select a Sponsor.
Full Initiation: Be a fully initiated and PRACTICING Catholic (Baptized, received 1st Eucharist, and Confirmed).
Age Requirement: Be at least 16 years old.
Parental Exclusion: Note that parents can NOT be sponsors (grandparents are acceptable).
Service Hours: Fulfill the agreed-upon Service Hours, both within the community and St. Ignatius of Loyola.
Immediate Preparation for Confirmation (all "Readiness Requirements" must be met):
Registration Appointment: Schedule an in-person registration appointment over the summer. It is recommended that at least one parent accompanies the young person. Information on how to schedule an appointment with Deacon Joe Wright will be provided in May.
Documents Due at Registration Appointment (if not already submitted):
Baptismal Certificate (if baptized at St. Ignatius, we only need the date of Baptism).
Sacrament Enrollment Form, which includes the name of your Sponsor and Confirmation Saint.
Register for and attend 75% of High School Faith Formation classes (or be enrolled in a Catholic High School).
Complete 100% of Immediate Preparation for Confirmation Sessions
Complete both Service Commitment Form and Pastor Letter (Due by December 15)
Service Commitment Form: Ensure it's signed and approved.
Letter to the Pastor: Write a letter to the pastor including:
Your reasons for wanting to be Confirmed.
Information about your chosen sponsor and why you selected them.
The name of your chosen Saint and the reason behind your selection.
Your beliefs regarding the importance of Mass and what Mass you normally attend.
Request the pastor's recommendation to the bishop for Confirmation.
Attend the Confirmation Rehearsal.
Be present for the Confirmation Ceremony: The date will be announcedin February/March
